Kodachrome Basin State Park is a place anyone in the Bryce Canyon area should add to their itinerary. Not only is it an escape from some of the crowds, but it has some unique spectacles of its own. We made the 30-minute drive from Bryce Canyon in time to arrive at the park’s picnic area for lunch. The boys immediately scrambled up the sandstone slope that borders the picnic tables.
The sandstone looks like red bread dough that’s been slapped onto the ground to rise. It has all kinds of interesting swirls, etchings, and bubbles. Just like with clouds, you can look around and spot faces and creatures hidden in the sandstone.
