Ruby’s Inn at Bryce Canyon City is the most commercially concentrated tourist trap near a national park that I’ve ever seen. It makes West Yellowstone and Jackson look like Buddhist monasteries. There must be a dozen billboards describing the services they offer, which include full service hotels, a very large and well-stocked general store, ATV rentals, gas, and, well, you can just read the signs. It’s the main jumping-off point for Bryce Canyon, which is only a mile down the road.
Today we took a stroll around town, where the boys checked out the rock shop and also went to jail for shoplifting.
The massive RV Park is good if you can land a pull-through spot in the trees, which we did. There are more than 200 RV and tent spaces. Since we’re here for six nights, the full hook-ups are great, and it’s very helpful to have all the services we want for an extended stay within walking distance. It’s a perfect destination for 9- and 11-year-olds. I think we’ll pass on the Live Western Dinner Show at Ebenezer’s Barn and Grill, though.
You HAVE to do the Western Dinner Show or your life won’t be complete
